In Living Color
I’ve been holding it down in my quaint little Columbia City condo for a little over two years now, and it definitely feels like home. I’ve wandered through the sea of Craiglist listings, in search of better rates and naive hopes for more square footage, quite a few times over the several months. However, the rapid rise in rent costs across the city of Seattle and, at this point, the surrounding areas has been painful to witness. And needless to say, my wanderings have not be successful. Though the need for more space to accommodate my growing archive of photography prints and The Underdog Co inventory persists, I’ve made my peace with sticking it out in this quiet little corner unit for a little while longer.
After giving up on apartment hunting, I decided to refresh my apartment a little bit. I refuse to buy “real” furniture till I buy a house though. So I’ve focused instead on dialing up the color and vibrancy to bring a warm, light-hearted and upbeat energy to my space. I’ve managed to refresh the space on a pretty tight budget thanks to regular trips to the home goods section at Ross and Goodwill stores across the city. Opting for a brighter decor color palette has made a really significant difference during the long, grey and rainy fall and winter seasons for which Seattle is famous. I love the way this little haven has come together, and I find so much joy and delight in the details. They make my little introverted heart feel at home.
If you need some help jumpstarting a refresh of your own, I’ve tagged the sources for most of the decor below and artwork below.
